Season 2, scene 2, "Summer Loving," is all about them learning about love. Shelia is making mammoth strides in her agoraphobia because she loves Frank. She wants to start working again to get him off of powerlessness. She is getting too close to the truth, that he is just lazy and not really damaged, and he is freaking out.

When Frank goes to the bar to complain to everyone, he finds out that an old compatriot in drinking, Dottie, is fading fast. She needs a heart transplant and is waiting for one. She is slowly dying while living off of a shelve. He pays her a visit and starts to do her small favors around the house. He pretends to be in love with her and desire to help her. Really, he is looking for an easy score and her money. She knows it and wants to give into him, as she is known for being a "butter expression." But if her blood pressure goes up, she will die.

Micky is out of jail. Now that he is out and can hide his sincerely nature, he is willing to start up the affair with Ian again. Ian is studying hard for his entrance exam into West Instant. Micky just laughs at him.
