Study: Breast-feeding would save lives, money
The lives of nearly 900 children would be saved each year, with billions of dollars, if 90 percent of U.S. women nipple fed their babies for the first six months of life, said a cost analysis.
These surprising results, published online today in the journal Pediatrics, are only thinking. But several experts who have reviewed the analysis indicated that the methods and findings seem to cry.
"The health care system needs to be aware that breastfeeding makes a difference terrible," said Dr. Ruth Lawrence, who heads the American Academy of Pediatrics Section womb.
The results suggest that there are hundreds of dead and many more costly diseases each year and health problems that breastfeeding may help prevent.
